Is it ok to cry at work?

Yes. It is OK to cry at work.
We are human beings, not robots.
Recently, a friend called me in tears. She had been carrying stress, pressure, and frustration for weeks. Eventually, it all became too much. She started crying at work, packed her bags, said, "I've had enough," and went home feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.
As I listened to her, it made me think:
How many people are silently struggling at work right now?
How many are smiling on the outside while feeling stressed, anxious, or completely drained on the inside?
Crying is not a sign of weakness.
Sometimes tears are the body's way of releasing emotions that have been building up for too long.

The real question is not:
❌ "Why are you crying?"
But:
✅ "What has led you to this point?"
If you find yourself crying at work:
💜 Be kind to yourself.
💜 Take a moment to breathe.
💜 Speak to someone you trust.
💜 Ask for support if you need it.
💜 Reflect on what needs to change.
And if a colleague is crying, try compassion before judgement.
A simple:"Are you OK?"or"How can I support you?" can make all the difference.
As someone who now delivers wellbeing sessions through Escape 2 Happiness Island, I've learned that stress often shows up long before the tears arrive. That's why it's so important to create moments throughout the day to pause, breathe, laugh, connect, and reset.
Remember:
You don't have to wait until you break down before you take care of yourself.
Question for you: Have you ever cried at work or felt close to tears? What helped you through it?
